Cycles of Change at Longfellow Middle School is an after school bike program serving from 14 to 20 students each session. It started in 2006. It is a collaboration between Cycles of Change and Longfellow Middle School after school program.

We are working together to operate a bike program as part of of Berkeley Unified school district. The program’s mission or objectives are:

  1. Teach students safe bike riding on the streets
  2. Give them the experience to go to fun places to open their horizons and possibilities.
  3. Give them the skills to read maps, so they can get oriented and go to different destinations by themselves in a safe and fun way.
  4. Show them regulations and advantages to take public transportation like BART or bus in conjunction with bikes.

Services

The program offers the following services:

Donations

We currently accept bike and monetary donations to support our program. Donations can be dropped off whenever the shop is open. To learn about donations go to donation page. All donations are tax-deductible. Ask for a donation receipt at the time of donating.

Volunteering

Cycles of Change at Longfellow Middle School needs volunteers to help with the field trips. It is good to have and extra person to make sure the rides are safe. Volunteers gain experience as bike leaders and give them the tools to be better riders.

Please get in touch with us and let us know what types of projects or skills you are able to contribute. Once you get in touch with us we will get you our volunteer application packet and get you started on a great volunteer experience!

Location

We are located in Berkeley in Longfellow Middle School, Ward St. between California and Sacramento Ave. We are across the street from the school. Were share the space with the school garden.
