Cycles of Change is Hiring
Cycles of Change, is a ten year old bicycle education organization in the east bay. Our mission: “Helping the East Bay grow and sustain a mosaic of healthy urban communities deeply connected to each other and the living world. We accomplish this through bicycle education, wholesome nutrition, environmental education and just resource allocation!”
We are looking for individuals to:
- Teach safe bicycle riding practices to youth ages 9-14; this involves helping to plan and lead bicycle-based field trips for groups of youth with varying levels of riding ability in a school setting.
- Teach basic bike mechanics to groups of youth ages 9-14 in a school setting.
- Work with Directors and Cycles staff to manage bicycle restoration workshops in which youth participants can learn to rebuild and earn their own bicycles.
- Develop and implement strategies for running all aspects of a successful program, including recruiting youth, building community relationships, planning curriculum, training and supporting instructors and interns, working with Cycles organizational staff, and doing program evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Youth development experience
- Comfortable with urban cycling
- Familiar with the local area
- Patient, compassionate, clear communicators with a positive attitude
- Self-directed, creative, passionate about working towards a shared vision
- Interested in being part of a grassroots, non-profit organization
- Bicycle mechanics experience or interest in learning
Compensation: $15-25/hr, depending on responsibilities
Hours: 3-20/week with opportunities for more work
