This Sunday the City of Dublin and the new REI in Dublin will host a Bike Drive benefit for Cycles of Change!

When: Sunday May 12, 11am-3pm
Where: Dublin REI, 2 blocks from the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, 7099 Amador Plaza Road, Dublin.
What: Donate bikes, parts, & accessories to support Cycles of Change Bike Clubs, Earn-a-Bike, and Bike-Go-Round Adult Commuter programs.

All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. REI will provide 20% off coupons to all donors!

Bikes will be collected on Sunday, April 22, 2012, from noon to 4pm, on Lower Sproul Plaza on the UC Berkeley campus.

We can visit any Alameda County location that can commit to signing up at least 6 youth who need bike repairs

Our brand new Bikemobile has begun visiting Alameda County schools, recreation centers, and parks, to repair bikes, and teach bike mechanics and safety. Here we are at our first ever visit at the Manzanita Community Wellness Fair:

We have also been taking advantage of the dry weather with our Skillz & Drills Bike Rodeos. You can contact the East Bay Bicycle Coalition to request a Cycles of Change rodeo for your event.

Then this past weekend we had two bike drives, in San Francisco and at Bret Harte Middle School. We received about 30 used bikes which will be used for our earn-a-bike and riding programs. Thank you!!

And on Sunday afternoon, to top it all off, we had a wonderful crab feed fundraiser, Let’s Get Crackin’, put on by our dedicated board members. The crowd enjoyed amazing spicy crab, garlic noodles, rice & guts, and sangria. Thank you so much to everyone! We appreciate everything you do to keep our programs running.

We’ll be selling plates with crab cooked in a rich Southeast Asian French Creole Sauce.  Load up with slammin’ sides like asian slaw, garlic noodles, potatoes and our fav – rice and guts.

Do you have time to commit to supporting the Cycles of Change staff collective?
D you have experience with consensus based decision-making, non-hierarchical structures, and building new organizing models?

Then you are invited to apply to become a board member!  Cycles of Change Board Members serve two year terms, and board meeting happen monthly or semi-monthly (about 9 meetings per year).

Applications are available now, and the deadline to apply is December 15th.

We are ESPECIALLY looking for applicants who have participated in a Cycles of Change program, applicants who are familiar with youth culture in the East Bay, and applicants who have financial or accounting experience.

We are planning two holiday fix-a-thons, one weekday and one weekend. Would you or your group like to join us? We will provide the bikes and warm winter snacks. We have some tools, but you can bring your own, too, if you have them.
