Dear Community,
We’ve been so excited for our California Field School x Cycles of Change Winter Bike-A-Thon fundraiser; however, due to the current COVID spike and public health guidelines, we have decided to postpone this event. We know this pandemic has disproportionately affected Black, brown, Indigenous, and low-income people, and as event organizers, we take our responsibility to the collective health of our community seriously.
We will reschedule this ride when it is safe to do so! In the meantime, our Givegutter page is still live and open for donations. We appreciate your continued support of youth bicycle education and outdoor adventures!! We’ll keep you posted.

CYCLES OF CHANGE AND THE CALIFORNIA FIELD SCHOOL INVITE YOU TO SUPPORT YOUTH GETTING ON BIKES!
During this time of sheltering in place, it’s more important than ever for young people to have positive outlets to move their bodies, connect with peers, and explore their communities – all from six feet apart. The California Field School and Cycles of Change are working hard to come up with creative ways to engage with high school students through the life-changing magic of bicycles – and we need your help!!
RIDE INFO: There are TWO ways to participate!
- Friday, December 11th – Livestreamed Bike-A-Thon here on Givebutter with commentary- Ride from 11 AM – 12 PM
- Saturday, December 12th – Asynchronous Bike-A-Thon – Choose any hour during the day for your ride – this option is designed with families in mind!
MAKE A PLEDGE: Volunteer riders in the Bike-A-Thon Lake Merritt will have a chance to test their bike riding skills by challenging themselves to ride around the lake as many times as they can in an hour in support of our campaign. You can scroll through the roster of riders and pledge a rider PER LAP or make a one-time donation to support this work. How do you make a pledge? HERE! (for an instructional video) or HERE! How can you make a further impact? Easy!
