About the Bikery
Cycles of Change Oakland community Bike Shop is a non-profit community bicycle shop which opened in September 2009. It is a collaboration between Cycles of Change and the Bikery.
We are working together to operate a sustainable bicycle center which is a place for bicycles and people to come together in order to help strengthen the community of the East Bay. The shop’s mission is to empower local communities by offering outstanding recycled bicycle services in a safe, thriving and creative community space.

Services
The shop offers the following services:
- Used bicycle sales: Expert mechanics refurbish and sell bikes that have been donated in order to support the project.
- Bike repairs
- Earn a bike program: Youth and adults are able to volunteer in exchange for credits which are used to earn bikes and parts.
- Bicycle donation center: Please see DONATIONS below.
- DIY repair shop and mechanics classes: There is 1 bike stand and a full range of bicycle tools that can be used in the shop by visitors to assist in their repairs. Staff also are there to help others learn to repair themselves.

Donations
Cycles of Change Oakland community Bike Shop serves as a place where you can donate/recycle your old bikes and parts. In fact, every bike that we have has been donated by someone like you! We are especially in need of useable bikes that can be earned by one of our youth or adult volunteers, or resold to support our operating expenses.
Donations can be dropped off whenever the shop is open (see schedule above). Just bring them into the shop.
Volunteering
The Bikery, Cycles of Change Community Bike Shop needs volunteers to help refurbish bikes and contribute to the success of this amazing project.
We are in need of volunteers who have the skills to:
- Repair donated bikes for sales, library bike, bicycle field trips and earn-a-bike programs
- Build bike storage racks out of recycled bike frame metal or salvaged wood.
- Manage our online bicycle sales program by taking digital photos of bikes and posting to our website.
- Spread the word to everyone you can! Write a story in a newspaper or magazine, talk to local schools, churches and other organizations, hang fliers, build new partnerships, etc…
- Help develop fundraising ideas for the project!
- Please get in touch with us and let us know what types of projects or skills you are able to contribute. Once you get in touch with us we will get you our volunteer application packet and get you started on a great volunteer experience!
